PRISONERS OF HOPE
We are the prisoners of hope
Liberated from the world's liberty
By constraints so divine.
Behind the bars of hope,
Pleasures of sin we chase no more,
Pride of possession we forsake,
Now His life our choices reflect
As humbly in His poverty we pride.
His faith divine restrains our heart
From its often lifeless wanderings;
And like the blazing Sun His assurances
Melt our manifestations of doubts.
Wrest from the grasp of greed
That enslaves of men best and worst,
In contentment we find fulfilment:
Living each day as grace provides.
And here behind the bars of hope,
Our guilt is gone and life assured,
We have come to know true freedom
Is in bondage to God's perfect will.
Though today on all sides troubles assail,
Our sweat sweet; our tears much joy assure,
And into His rest every labour leads
From here behind the bars of hope.
