Golden tips top summer’s passing,
Green now fades to muted shade,
Sunlight rests in shining patches,
Glory shines on leaf and blade.
Every shade of changing palette
Bursts abundant on the eye,
Fills the vision – o, what beauty
Everywhere around us lie.
Restful green, your time is ending,
Soon you’ll pass, the days ahead’ll
Turn each glint of lime, jade, olive,
Into coral, brown and red.

I just love this Margaret! I love a colorful palette; you made both Summer and Autumn sing alternately with such beautiful delightful, rich color...Sometimes less is more and I love the fact that there is a place on the site for the shorter poetry as well. This truly was a treasure to read!
I just had to come back on and say that this rhythm e just rolled off the tongue so nicely. This poem really had the feel to me of one of the older poets-- Frost; Yates or a Dickenson. Superb job!
