If you find yourself homeless, I pray the Lord leads you to a place where you can read this article or any like it. It is my feeling that homelessness is a curse.
Malichi 3:8
Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you ask, How do we rob you? In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse, the whole nation, because you are robbing God".
If you want to break the curse of homelessness, poverty and lack off your life, begin by honoring God with at least a 10th of any monetary gain you come by. I don't care if its a mere dollar, give the Lord .10 cents. It matters, it is relevant if you want to break this curse spiritually.
Look at how the Lord multiplied the few loaves of bread and fish a young boy had, to feed over 5,000 people. He can surely take your tenth and multiply it in ways that you can not imagine.
The Lord says, "Test me and see if I will not open up the windows of heaven and pour you out blessings more than you can contain. I will rebuke the devourer for your sake."
So how can you not afford to begin to acknowledge the importance of tithing unto the Lord. The lesson to understand is that it all belongs to Him and when we neglect the importance of making Him a priority in our giving, then comes the curse. Curses come in many forms.
Examine your life, homelessness is not the only curse. Address where you feel your life is falling short and target these things in your prayer life and expect that your tithes will make a difference. Monitor the changes while you live in expectation.
In many cases people look to the church for relief in homeless situations. But there would be no way for the church to help unless someone else had not thought to put their tithe into the Lord's hands so there would be "food in His storehouse" for you.
Some people have lived under a curse for so long they think its normal. Wake up and see the light of truth that will set you free.
Why are there so much divisions in the church today about whether or not payment of tithe is obligatory to believers in Christ? I advise we search the scriptures carefully for the answers and not to project to the world what we feel is right.
In Matthew 23:23 for instance, Jesus never rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for paying tithe, but simply rebuked them for neglecting other weighty matters of the law (judgement, mercy and faith) simply because they thought they could please God by payment of tithe. If anyone lives in sins and immorality but is faithful in tithing, will the fellow make it to heaven? Of course the answer is NO! Jesus NEVER said payment of tithe was altogether to be dispensed with, but simply pointed attention of the pharisees to other weighty matters of the kingdom.
Besides, if we trully love the Lord, we will understand that everything we have belongs to God, whether 10% or 20% or 100%! The question should be does giving to God in any form attract blessings? If it does, why should we bother so much about giving to God by way of tithing?
I strongly advise we search the scriptures very well, God will not judge us by men's opinions but by His word.
God bless you. Amen.
