She said to Him through gritted teeth,
“I’m going with Ed,
“I need to think”
When she heard no response
She held out her hand
Ed clasped it tight
And dragged her away
Headed for the grottos, yet again.
A night fell and a morning rose
Before she wondered why she did go
She felt so helpess
Of her own choice
If the Gardener didn’t grant it
She’d be forever lost?
If He didn’t change her heart,
She’d live with Ed
For if He didn’t save her,
Then nobody would
Is this the Gardener she loves?
This is the one, they tell her?
“So this is it?”
She thought as they went.
“At the mercy of Him,
“I’m left to hope?”
To all of you there,
She said as they passed,
Stay with the Gardener,
Don’t ever look back."
For whether she dies or whether she lives
In the arms of Ed, or there by the stream
What’s left of her heart, tells her this
Everyone must know, no matter their place.
Everyone must know that He has saving grace.
