Sleeping lions at dream doors waking
Sounds of roaring rivers rush
Speaking prayers least expected
Predictably unpredictable
Joy in time wends its way around
Passing heraldic parted per fess
In through the back door miracles
Couched on the Carpenter’s bench
God’s note with footnotes everywhere
New wine in pearly light surrounds
Served on the table of your heart
Promising everything beautiful
In its time etched on solid ground
Loam rich in heirloom fields of gold
Parting seas on endless acres vast
Banners flying outside on the front porch
Feet up on the old Adirondack chair
Lilies pondered in green shade slowly
No kidding around...(the note reads)
This is yours all of it belonging new
From high footloose plains to seas
Go ahead and take a look around
And let me know what you think
Sign out back still says ‘Caretaker wanted’
So if sunshine and still waters suit you fine
Most of the year and down winding lanes
Rare rooms, take up the keys of kingdoms
And stay…This note to be continued…

Author’s note: The ancient heraldry term ‘parted per fess’ refers to that area of a medieval banner ‘partitioned by means of a horizontal line across the field’.
