When it comes to healing,
There were four who bore the mat
And laid the man at Jesus' feet.
What do you think of that?
What does it mean to us today?
While pondering this notion,
Into my mind God sent
Fresh revelation into motion.
It all starts with the Father,
Who from heaven sends His love,
Giving of His only Son
Sent down here from above.
Who knows the heartache He endured
To see Him on the cross,
As Christ bore all our guilt and shame?
Just think how much it cost!
Our burdens Jesus gladly bore,
His body wracked with pain.
For our own sins He suffered loss
That we might heaven gain.
And as the Father gave Him
As a sacrifice for sin,
He let His back be mocked and whipped
Our victory to win.
His chastisement does bring us peace,
He does our burdens bear
Through the power of the Spirit
Who this truth does share.
The Father, Spirit, Son, you see,
That blessed Trinity,
Are like an awesome triangle
That brings us liberty.
But add a fourth and there you have
A brand new faith dimension.
For God's right arm did all the work,
We're merely an extension.
He has a rectangle which
We His people may help carry,
A corner of the sinner's mat.
(Don't worry, it's not scary)
For Jesus tore apart the roof,
Despising those sharp nails.
He holds one mat edge by the head,
For His love never fails.
To Jesus' left the Father stands,
And holds another end,
As hovering near one foot the Spirit
His Word does attend.
Invisible they wait for us
To take the end that's left.
Will we uphold that corner
Or of faith remain bereft?
The Father, Spirit, Son do long
to help us in our task.
They're always there to meet our needs,
We only have to ask.
