Music in the Woods

I felt a strong urge to walk through the woods rather than take an afternoon nap. I walked briskly, as if drawn by a heavy magnetic pull into the heart of the woods. I sang and prayed as I walked.


I happened upon a meadow that holds memories for me, from years ago. A lovely place, with a solid line of poplar trees that kind of marks domestic woods from wild woods. It was as though the trees were quietly begging me to sing them a song. I raised my voice and sang "How He Loves." Instantly as my voice began ringing out, I realized a delightful echo of my music. The whole woods seemed lit with excitement, and it echoed my music about how our Daddy loves us!


The music filled the woods and I couldn't help but begin dancing. The trees begged me to! I swayed, moved, twirled, and sang. For all I know, the ten thousand trees could have been ten thousand people in an auditorium, and I was leading them in worship and awe of our Creator. We had one heart and one purpose, to worship our Creator forever, for our good and the good of our future descendants!


I entered the wild woods and sang a new song for them. The angels joined me in this song.

It's an unfinished song. But I know that the trees will never forget this. I touched them and blessed them. I turned around and walked away. When I turned back to look one more time at the meadow and the trees I'd spent my time in, I saw it literally bathed in golden sunlight. Or maybe it was God's glory, because really the sun was hidden behind clouds.
