Matthews 8 v 23 - 27

A Small fishing boat is steered into a northern direction by its crew on board. They are on their way to their fishing spot for the day. In one of the comers on the upper deck is a man is taking a rest. He is no ordinary man, but He is the Son of God called Jesus Christ. The only Son of the true living God in heaven. He crew on board is his disciples, the men he trained to do the work of God here on earth with him. It must have been a very long day on land for them, attending to so many people and curing their illnesses. Understandable that some of them would feel a bit worn out by the day’s activities. An hour or so later a storm starts to brew over the sea, high up in the sky. Dark grey clouds start to form in minutes the sky is pitch black with thunder sounding in the distance. The wind starts to blow with mighty power; the waves start to build up, higher and higher over the sea. The wind forces the gigantic waves over the small boat and its crew. The little boat starts too roll from the one side to the other, almost tilting it. The crew is in fear and is trembling by the sight of the mighty waves being crush on their little boat. Some of the crew is trying their best to save the boat and themselves, but the more they pour the water out of the boat, the more the water comes back into the boat, but all is in vain. For some of them it is the worst storm ever experienced on the sea. Soon all of them start to loose the little faith they still have in God, and they just want to give up. Then suddenly a loving but firm voice rises above the confussion on board. It is the voice of their Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Son of God. The commands the elements to return to normal. They obey Him, then the wind and the sea starts to calm down. The disciples come to their knees and start to praise God for saving them. Jesus looks at them and asks them “Why did you loose your faith”?

Thought for the day

My friends, there are a lot of us today where our lives are stormy just as the weather was that day on the sea. Without having hope and an anchor in our lives. All we have to do is to call upon Jesus Christ our Personal Savior and best friend to help us in our days of distress. He will calm the stormy weathers in our lives. Just think if He can calm the elements down and they obey Him, the more what can he do in our life’s to calm our storms in our lives.

Prayer for the day

Father God in Jesus name we pray that You would please calm the stormy weather in our lives and teach us who to dedicate our lives to Your great service here on earth in your Loving Mercy and Will. Amen.
