Nobody could be more desperate for instant miracles than Hannah was when she was barren. She married as a young lady, but after many years of waiting without conception, her husband decided to marry another wife. The pain, shame and desperation for miracle became very high when the new wife started giving birth to children. She gave birth to boys and girls in quick succession, and she would not allow any of her children to run errand for Hannah. Hannah’s condition made her cry a lot!
In quest for a miracle of the fruit of the womb, Hannah would go to prayer meetings, Shiloh convention, and so on. She became a regular client at ‘Shiloh Christian Gathering.’ Hannah remained in her situation for years until one year when she decided to take the matter to God herself.
AND SHE WAS IN BITTERNESS OF SOUL, AND PRAYED UNTO THE LORD, AND WEPT SORE. AND SHE VOWED A VOW, AND SAID, O LORD OF HOSTS, IF THOU WILT INDEED LOOK ON THE AFFLICTION OF THINE HANDMAID, AND REMEMBER ME, AND NOT FORGET THINE HANDMAID, BUT WILT GIVE UNTO THINE HANDMAID A MAN CHILD, THEN I WILL GIVE HIM UNTO THE LORD ALL THE DAYS OF HIS LIFE, AND THERE SHALL NO RAZOR COME UPON HIS HEAD. 1samuel 1:10-11.
As Hannah was praying, Eli, the man of God came to inform her of God’s decision to give her a baby boy ‘THEN ELI ANSWERED AND SAID, GO IN PEACE: AND THE GOD OF ISRAEL GRANT THEE THY PETITION THAT THOU HAST ASKED OF HIM.’vs.17.
Since God has answered Hannah, shouldn’t she return home from Shiloh with a baby on her laps? Her eagerness and desperate desire for a baby would make Hannah love to go back home with her baby in her hands for all to see. But HANNAH HAD TO WAIT. She had to wait to experience what it means to conceive, what pregnancy fever is all about, changes in body form as a result of pregnancy, uneasiness in moving around with a baby in her womb, the pains of travail, the pushing to deliver, the joy of a new born, breast feeding and so on. Hannah WAITED for NINE months for her miracle to mature.
Can you wait for God’s time or you are so desperate that God’s time appears to be too late for you? Ten virgins went out to WAIT for the bride. They all waited until five of them decided to interrupt their WAITING time to attend to irrelevances. The WATING five benefited immensely while the five who got bored recorded eternal loss.
There is a waiting time for your miracle to mature. Hold on and keep on waiting. ‘The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;’ 2Peter 3:9 Anyone who cannot wait for God can never receive anything from God. Jesus had to wait for 30 years before He began His redemptive work. The apostles waited until they were endued with power from on high before lunching out in ministry.
Your waiting for God will only worth it if you also WAIT ON HIM. There is need to constantly be in contact with God in prayers. As you are waiting for God’s time, you must also appear before Him in prayers. It is when you wait on God in prayer that God will speak to you so that you won’t miss the time to MOVE ON.
What was the result of Hannah’s waiting? ‘Wherefore it came to pass, WHEN THE TIME WAS COME about after Hannah had conceived, that SHE BARE A SON, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.’ 1Samuel 1:20.
YOUR PRAYER (WAITING ON GOD) WILL PREPARE YOUR MIRACLE FOR YOU, AND PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR DESIRED MIRACLES AS YOU WAIT FOR GOD’S TIME.
God bless you as you allow God into your life and thereafter receive grace to wait.
