Scripture to reflect upon: Romans 5:5
"And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."
Itís no joke. God is knocking. Are you standing behind the door asking a series of questions? God who? Who are you looking for? What do you want? God isnít a solicitor. He is earnestly and eagerly looking for a place to dwell. Godís not homeless, but his Spirit seeks a home in your heart.
Godís spirit is like the proverbial ďhouse guestĒ that never leaves. Heís probably going to break a few things, rearrange the furniture, make life a bit uncomfortable at times, invade your privacy, and Heíll be everywhere you turn. Even if you try to lock Him out, He will stand outside and knock until you open the door again.
And while Heís rearranging a few things and making life a bit uncomfortable, Heíll also fill your heart and soul with peace, joy, happiness, contentment and love. He will show you right from wrong and direct your path. And when you see how nicely Heís rearranged everything, and how your life functions much easier the way He's changed things around, you wonít want Him to leave. Youíll be glad He's there...always.
NOTE TO SELF: In Solomonís days, Godís spirit was hauled around in an arc. However, thanks to Jesus, today His spirit can reside within our hearts. He wants to become your companion. He wants to spend time with you. He wants to hear about your day and your life. He wants you to know who He is, too. If God is knocking, you should answer.
