So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
Beloved brothers and sisters, in the above text we find a woman whom husband was a prophet (preacher) and he died and left his family in debt. Certainly, that has to be in the old testament because new testament preachers would not die and leave their families in debt....would they?.....Could this be occurring in our generation as well? You do not have to be a preacher and die to be in debt, as a matter of fact you do not have to die at all and your family can be in debt but there are valuable lessons that we can garner from this story. First, the widow woman sought godly counsel for her financial affairs...not the world system. The man of God responded by asking her," What do you have in the house?” This may seem to be an odd response to someone who is in debt but let us examine this response a little closer. The response suggest that the answer to your financial problems start with what you already have...yes, the answer is in your house! You may be asking yourself...I'm broke...all I have is a jar of oil. When you see oil referenced in the bible, it is a type of Holy Spirit...therefore all she had is the Holy Spirit and that is all you need to solve your debt crisis as well. The Holy Spirit with godly counsel or instructions will lead you out of your debt crisis...What do you have in your house? Do you not know that your body (house) is the temple of the Holy Spirit? Once you take inventory of what is in your house and then begin to pursue godly counsel..... you will be able to come out of debt and begin to live in the promises of God... “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
“Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. Therefore, no need to panic....the answer to your financial struggles are in your house!
