The devil has often craftily used the reverence of man and limited it with a boundary of blessed people in such a manner that they cannot go beyond that, for them the blessed people are the perfect ideal, they have become their god and in doing so, the devil had successfully brought out a separation between God and His people.
"Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” "
John 4:12-13 (NKJV)
The Samaritan woman here highly revered father Jacob and for her there was no one beyond father Jacob, and this reverence never changed her life for good, for there can be no blessedness except from the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
Today also there are many who limit their devotion to saints, sacraments & traditions and try to seek blessedness doing this, however they are thus never the real recipient of true joy.
God cannot and will not share His glory, He is never unapproachable and on the other hand He always desires our fellowship, devotion & worship.
We need to go beyond everyone and everything and reach up to God and offer our devotion to receive the real blessedness.
God never desires a mediator between Himself and us and always wants to deal with us personally.
Thus, let the greatest position be for God in our life, we can also look with pride and respect to other blessed people, yet our highest reverence should be for God alone.
