I was standing at the railway station today, with 10 minutes to wait.Looking around at the people on the platforms and out on the street,I began to think about the enormous difference there is between those who have a relationship with God and those who do not.
There is a statement in the Old Testament that has become very important to me over the years;blessed is the man whose strength is in the Lord his God. There is a similar verse in Ephesians;be strong in
the Lord and the power of His might.
The Old Testament word goes on to say; who passing through the valley of weeping maketh it a well.
This makes me think about our everyday life. Outwardly , we are the same as unbelievers.A lot of the time we seem to be no different,we go to school,we work to make money, we marry and have children and we partake of the same services in old age.
But inwardly the difference is enormous.A christian author put it like this; 'christians are much bigger on the inside than they are on the outside'.
Our lives have been joined with the God who upholds the Universe by the word of His power. There is just no comparison between the person who lives in this world in their own strength and those who live trusting Jesus. What enormous resources we have. We are Sons and Daughters of the God who can do anything. 'with God all things are possible',is the way Jesus described it. It does not always feel that way to us and sometimes our circumstances seem to speak a different message. But we have been instructed to live by faith in the promises of the Bible. They are our window ,revealing to us all that we are and have.
I think it is important to realize also, that the christian life is first and foremost,a relationship with God the Father,Jesus and the Holy Spirit. A personal relationship. Only then will we have the revelation of all that God can be to us in all the circumstances of life.
