Lord what shall be the value of my words,
if they do not edify or strengthen others?
If the spirit of another is not touched,
to worship the only living God.
For words have the power to lift up
and tear down. Words can bring happiness,
and yet dismay, words can bring joy and
perhaps pain to another’s spirit.
I would rather be silent if my words
were not food for the spirit of another,
If they are given in selfishness rather
than in the bond of love.
Surely there is a way to insure that what
we speak is done to build up the body
Of the Lord. For many have spiritual gifts,
yet many do not use them correctly.
For will not the entire body prosper,
Will not the whole body grow, will not
the entire spirit of the living church
be lifted, if the words are spirit filled?
May our words always strengthen and edify.
May our words never cause any to stumble
or fall. May our words always be full of
Your grace and love, and may our words
always be alive with Your spirit that we may
grow, always resembling Your Love in all
that we express in Your name.

Dear Wendell. This is a strong piece, full of wisdom and thought. I can imagine this being in a frame in many public places, and at home in places where you have to look at it, or it catches your eye many times a day! Thank you.
