I come back to a place I once knew well
after spending a time far away from its call.
For preserved in a cave, afraid of the world
I found myself impregnable among the stone wall.
If nothing could grow, then nothing could die.
My lips deceived my heart and told lies.
But in the thick of the tendrils of vines and of trees,
walking back to the garden, my feet find it with ease.
I take out the key, so foreign to touch
It clicks in its lock and I open to much.
Gasp!
Why did I ever leave?
