A Taxi driver meets a lot of people.Inevitably you begin to think about the fact that probably most of them have not received Jesus as their saviour.
I have often been surprised at the openings God has given me to speak about Him and even to pray for passengers.
A number of times I have talked to passengers who had just come from a funeral and were upest by it.
One guy got into the Cab and immediately asked me"are you religious"? He had come from the funeral of a friend and was deeply affected by it.
On one occasion I was attempting to explain the Gospel to a young Asian guy and was making no headway at all.Afterwards I was dwelling on my disappointment, when the Holy Spirit bought a verse to my mind; 'the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power'.
After thinking about that for a few days,I decided that I would begin to ask if I could pray for people,if they had an obvious need or told me of a need in their lives.
I prayed for a lot of people over the next few weeks. One instance stands out. I was first Cab on a city rank when two people walked up supporting an indian lady between them. She was obviously not well.
I was originally reluctant to take her because she was in a lot of pain, and her home was a trip of 30 kilometres.I suggested they take her to a Doctor because I did not want the responsibility of a very sick person on a long trip.
But the lady was insistent and off we went.Of course after a short while I began to think that I should pray for her. From the red mark on her forehead and all of her jewellery,I could see that she was hindu and I wondered if she would reject my offer.
When I explained that I was a Christian and that the Bible said that if we placed our hands on people and prayed ,God would heal them, she immediately held out her arm for me to pray.
I prayed, making sure to emphasise that I was praying to the Father in Jesus name.We were both silent for a while after that and I was trying to see with my peripheral vision if she was healed.
The Lord bought to my mind that I was hoping that she was healed, and hope is not faith. I immediately claimed the promise of healing and declared in my mind that she was healed. Almost immediately I heard her humming a song to herself and saw that she was looking out of the window and had lifted her arm to admire her jewellery.
On arriving at the destination she thanked me with a big smile on her face.I did not speak to her about Gospel but I am sure that she knew who had healed her.
