Luke 10:27
(used by permission of Christian Devotions) (excerpt from Morning Meditations by Martin Wiles)

Luke 10:27 The man answered, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind. (NLT)

When I woke up the house felt a little warm. Assuming I forgot to turn the air down before going to bed, I continued with my morning routine. But when I walked by a vent there was no air. Not a good scenario when itís summer in the South. Since it was too early to call the repair man, I continued with my warmer than normal morning schedule.

After eating breakfast and dressing, I went to my desk, turned on the computer and clicked on Internet Explorer. What I got was a partially functioning internet. It appeared my day was wrecked.

Itís amazing how hooked most are on tech gadgets. Computers, internet, cell phones, iPods, iPhones, and whatever else happens to be the happening thing. Even our cars are computerized. They tell us when we need an oil change, if a door is open or the tire pressure is low, what temperature it is and what direction we are going.

I must admit. I am hooked on the internet. When it doesnít function, my day is ruined. But not for selfish reasons. A large part of my writing ministry as well as work related to my profession depends on internet access.

Jesus was approached by a religious expert wanting to know the requirement for inheriting eternal life. Jesus tested his knowledge by asking him what the law said. He replied that a person must love God with their entire being.

It was scene about priorities. What are mine and where does God fit into them? Are the gadgets wrong? Should they be denounced as television was when it began stealing peopleís time from God? Hardly. Gadgets can be used for good or we can be made gullible by them. The choice is ours. When we love God with our entire being, we will use the gadgets to be more creative in expanding his work. Their use can also draw us closer to him. A bible on my Blackberry makes it always accessible.

Prayer: Lord, may we love You with our total beings-heart, soul and mind. And may we use our gadgets to serve you more effectively. www.morningliteministry.com
