Recently, here in Perth, Western Australia, a School Prinipal decided to omit the saying of The Lord's Prayer in her State Primary School.
Seventy two percent of the parents did not have a problem with their children reciting this prayer.
However, she, the Principal bent to the minority of parents who felt offended that their children should be educated in one religion.
I was reading the 'letters' page in the West Australian Newsppaper, where many folk gave their opinion.
As you can imagine, there was an almost equal opinion poll, by non-believers and believers in God.
I might add, I sent a letter, but I was not successful in this instance.
The Education Department stated it was the choice of each State Scool Principle to decide whether or not he/she would regard religion to be implemented into the said School.
My point in writing this is;
The Lord's Prayer acknowledges there is a higher
intelligence at work. We, who recite it, ask for our daily bread, we acknowledge,{or at the very least} we learn about forgiveness. We also acknowledge an eternal life, as energy can never be destroyed. We also ask, within this prayer, to be protected from all evil forces.
Jesus is not mentioned in this prayer, so I asked myself;
How can any religion be offended by The Lord's Prayer?
Room for thought here..........
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
