The Isaiah 43 Poem

Whenever I’m afraid, or feel that maybe life is getting away from me, I try to think of God’s words from Isaiah 43: 1-13. There’s something about the imagery in this incredible piece of scripture that makes me feel safe again, that it’s O.K., I don’t have to be in control, because God is. I want to share this little poem with you, inspired by those holy words from Isaiah:

“And I hold you in the palm of
My hand;
The storm will not shift me: I am the storm;
The night will not shift me: I am the deepening day
Upon which the night-wing safely falls;
The ages will not shift me: I am the God of Life
In whom your loving trust installs such
Yearning
When you call
Behold –
I am
Always
Already
There…
Do not fear: for
I hold you
in the palm of
My
Hand ---

Amen.
