What makes you a leader? Is it personality or popularity? How about your ability to “persuade” others to follow you? Salesmanship; personal prestige? Education or degrees? Or even just being “appointed” to the position by someone in authority?
Yes, in the world, that all can make you a leader. In business, those are very good things to have on your resume. Whether or not you are a good leader is still up to you.
The Kingdom of God is different. Your ability to lead is not based on personality, popularity, persuasiveness, salesmanship, prestige, education or degrees! And He is the only one with the “authority” to put you in the position of a true leader. The only one who really needs to see your resume is God. He not only sees it, but He will “build it” for you!
He builds it when you submit yourself to His will. Education needed? The Word! Training program? Life…fully submitted to Him! He has selected your “major”… Brokenness. Some of the courses…Repentance, Submission, Forgiveness, Compassion, and the hardest one of all, Death to Self! Term length…a lifetime. Assignments are designed and given to you by Him. Lots of tests along the way to show you how you’re doing. Re-testing is always available, because failing is not an option.
You will not need to frame your certificates of accomplishment or your grades and place them on your wall to validate your right to lead. You probably will not get letters behind your name...but your life will reflect what you have learned! A great deal of the time you will not even realize you are leading. It becomes part of your nature. And there will not necessarily be a large crowd doing the following. It's about the effectiveness of your leadership, not the vastness of it.
Everything that comes into your life...positive or negative, is part of your training to be a leader. The Word says, "...all things work together for the good..." Pay attention "in class." Take notes when necessary. Learn from others and spend the time that you have wisely. It all counts!
If you complete your assignments and do your homework, you may be called on to “tutor” someone along the way. Do it faithfully, with integrity, dedicating your heart to all that is required of you, and you will become the leader you are called to be. Honoring God and working to build HIS KINGDOM!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
