Walking up the trail which Jesus traveled to clear,
He made it safe for us – there’s nothing to fear.
But to right and to the left, we hear the serpent’s call.
He reasons that if we veer, we surely we not fall.
Standing tall and looking straight, you step right out, ahead.
Confident in your march – there’s nothing to dread.
Now in your haste to lead the race, you’re drifting to the side.
As the old snake springs his trap - you see that he has lied.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, surely this can not be.”
When Jesus said, “If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.”
So when we know the Savoir, He’s cleaned us from within,
Even when we step away, and into the mud, again.
So now you step down off the track and muddied your feet, again.
You thought no one would see you step, but now you stepped in sin.
You look ahead upon the path and there you see your Friend.
With love, He sets you back in place - forgiving where you’ve been.
