A day when flags are wavering in the air
to pay tribute to gallant men of war
As drums silently pause at each beat
and trumpets sounding near and far
A time to remember fallen concrades
that gave their lives on the battle fields
and brave marchers too, are doing their duties
but, now unrest are their weapons and shields
There is a price to pay for freedom
as we watch soldiers come and go back out
To fight for a country still full of prejudice
yet, kill and die, side by side, no doubt
Great ships take them far across the seas
to land them on shores by day and night
and the only family they have is by their side
To become one anothers eye sight
As my heart beheld this picture
these soldiers are fighting the same war
And that white mother's son, will hold-
that black mother's son
and attend to wounds that may leave a scar
When they go to war, there is only one God
that they pray to in heaven above
Yet many seperate, by color in church's
and still say, they have God's love
I guess some don't see how important this is
they rather stay their distance from one another
and forget prayer together should be more than ever.
For those soldier's will need each other
Many fight for equal rights, but what about justice
there are no barriers when it comes to war
Well somehow this picture hasn't yet been cleared
seeing so many still cast it afar
Now that black mother should feel, that white
mother's sadness
and the white mother, the black mother's pain
For on the battle field their son's become one
and with this understanding we all can gain
We have wars that affect, unborn children
that lets one choose rather they live or die
Laws governed to give youths life in prison
then when suffering, we blame God and ask why
We slaughter the innocent and wipe our hands
don't even give them the right to live
Such acts displease's an almighty God
for he didn't come to take, but, to give
