Just Like Peter

Lord, how many times have I denied,
unlike Peter I know of more than three
yet, just like Peter all I really wanted
was to follow and go along with Thee.

Lord, how many times did I reject,
the promises that I found in Your Word
yet, when faced with life's impossibilities
I acted as if these truths, I never heard.

Lord, how many times did I refuse,
the path You had laid out for me
yet, when my selfish pride took control
Your plans for me I could no longer see.

Lord, how many times did I decline,
Your mercy and Your endless grace
yet, when I found contentment in the world
it's materialist love I did embrace.

Lord, how many times have I denied,
too many to count, I do fear
yet, You knew the crow left in my heart
would have to die, so we could be near!
