Absolute Trust in God

At the basic school where I teach, a pupil approached me one day and asked me during snack break to unscrew the cork of his bottle so he could eat something. It took some time and a lot of effort to finally open it. Since then, anytime he wanted to take his snack but found it difficult to open his bottle, he did not ask for anyone’s help; he would search for me until he found me. ‘Mr. Asante, could you please open the bottle for me,’ he would request. Then as usual, I would go through the difficulty of opening the cork for him.

That young boy trusted in my strength, that no matter how stronger another teacher looked, he still came to me for help. Because I was able to help him the first time, he knew I could help him always. Can we trust God as much? No matter how our plans seem to be right, can we subject them to God’s scrutiny, and when God changes our plans, can we adapt to them?

God has done a lot in our lives but like the Israelites, we fail to recognize God’s miracles so when we face challenges we begin to complain and murmur.

The Bible says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Prov. 3:5-6, KJV)

This boy’s attitude taught me a lesson at a time when I consulted God on my plans at my own convenience. We aren’t perfect and so we fail many times, but God is perfect and never fails. So, why not hold up to Him your plans; He will never fail you.
