I was truly blessed listening to one of the messages of restoration by Evg. Saju Mathew which was a Bible class from the book of Nehemiah.
With a deep burden for God's people when the Lord had finally led Nehemiah to achieve what he had desired, the people gathered in an open square to listen to the reading of the Book of Law, the people heard it from morning until midday and this was what the Word did to them...
"....For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law. " Nehemiah 8:9 (NKJV)
There was a deep longing and thirst for the Word in the hearts of the people, and thus when they heard it, they will filled with joy.
Paul says this about the law of the Lord...
"Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good." Romans 7:12 (NKJV)
How much do we value the Word of God? How important it is in our life?
Susanna Wesley, mother of John and Charles Wesley once while giving a copy of the Bible to her son John said, "Son, either this Bible will keep you away from sin, or sin will keep you away from this Bible." John Wesley was used mightily by the Lord to bring many souls to His kingdom.
Job had this to practice in his life....
"I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth
More than my necessary food." Job 23:12 (NKJV)
O, how leniently we take the reading and meditating of the Word of God, how casually we approach the intake of the spiritual food from the Bible.
Dear Ones!!! The pace of life would have changed, the trends do not remain the same, however the need for the Word of God cannot be supplemented by anything else.
We would never be full with the joy of the Lord unless it comes from the Word.
I urge you to spend a few hours daily reading and meditating from the Word, not only will it improve you as a person, it will also help you in your work efficiency, it will help you progress in life in everything you do, it will help you take the right decisions in life and keep you from all wrong.
There concept of running alone blindly and dashing against the obstacles and self comforting that through such one would become strong and independent is wrong, rather what is required of us is to walk in the light of God's Word and thus we will never stumble, we will never fall, for this is true in the life of everyone who have considered the Lord's Word as important in their life...
"Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path." Psalms 119:105 (NKJV)
