Imagination about God had been totally different until Jesus revealed Himself.
That God was too high to reach, too dangerous, too angry and too much unapproachable was the view that kept the people away from God and God away from the people.
Jesus came in all His authority and all His power,in human form and displayed the best of love and compassion ever seen.
No one spoke so powerfully and authoritatively as He did, no one did great signs and wonders as He did and no one reached out so compassionately as He did.
With all this admirable goodness manifested through Himself, Jesus also revealed Himself as one with the Father.
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:7 (NKJV)
The heavenly Father whom the Jews adored was for the first time seen so closely, felt so lovingly and admired so intimately.
Jesus Christ is the best gift of God to us, revealing Himself in His Son and letting us know that He is so close.
The psalmist very well said about God's availability when he said...
"God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. " Psalms 46:1 (NKJV)
He is ever present and available, He is compassionate and full of love.
I have always loved singing the blessed hymn " Give thanks with a great heart...because of Jesus Christ His Son." and now today after having known the blessedness of Jesus Christ in my life and having known that God is so near,
I will enjoy all the more singing it for what Christ has done for me.
