The people of the Lord had probably never had such an instance to be ashamed of, for having tasted the miraculous victory at Jericho now as they move ahead to another country very much smaller called Ai, they are surprisingly defeated, what has happened? they have the same God to lead them, yet what happened? has God's power been reduced? where is the Lord who brought victory at Jericho?
"So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai." Joshua 7:4 (NKJV)
The actual problem was not concerning God and His ability, for He changeth never, He was, is and will be the best forever.
The actual problem was also not with the enemy for the enemy at this time was not stronger than the ones whom they had faced earlier.
The actual problem was with the people...the people had forsaken God. The people of God had sinned.
God can never compromise with sin.
In our walk with God, we need to be very careful about the alluring ways of the devil with which he tries to drift us away from God.
Its true that with God we are more then conquerors, however also true that without Him with us, we are always defeated by even the smallest possible thing.
God will never leave us and His presence will never depart from us, unless we wish so and sin against Him.
King David when he had sinned against God prayed for repentance and cried bitterly praying this...
"Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit." Psalms 51:11-12 (NKJV)
David knew that he could not do anything without God and he know the preciousness of the joy of salvation.
Dear One!!! Let's check ourselves in Christ, for that will determine the outcome of the battles in our life.
With Christ we are victorious and without Him we are always defeated.
God Bless,
Abraham
