KJV - The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; he shall preserve thy soul.
NIV - The Lord will keep you from harm - he will watch over your life.
I hope everyone had a solemn Memorial Day weekend. My wife told me of this story that she read on Free Republic. It is an excellent praise: Two college students in Tuscaloosa, AL on April 27, 2011 were frantically trying to protect themselves from the tornado. One kid called his dad and the father said to get into the tub and cover up with a mattress. The mother had written this verse on the bathroom mirror in hopes that her son would be safe in college. The mattress would not fit through the through the door of the bathroom without the scripture on the mirror, so the two students opted for the for the other.
They crammed into the tub at the last possible second. When they emerged safely, the house was destroyed. All that remained in tact was the tub and the mirror. A mighty fortress is our God!
Also reported on Fox News was the spike in Internet searches for Christian websites, surpassing Lady Gaga, who I am happy say, I would not recognize if she sat down beside me.
There is lots of good news out there. In times of great need, people are searching for salvation found only in Christ Jesus. Churches need to be ready to embrace the massive bewilderment and disenchantment many feel. It is beyond our poor power to protect each other from storms and natural disasters, but we can at least let the suffering know that the Lord is here and He is still in the business of calming storms.
