You hold my hand and we leap together.
Falling is like flying, and in your arms is bliss
You show me the world and all the wonderfulness you made
I don’t know why I didn’t see it before, was it there all the time?
You gently place a pearl necklace around my neck with care,
you call me your own and tell me your kingdom is mine
I am your princess bride, your daughter, your love
As I watch your face, suddenly the clouds blow in as if from nowhere,
dark and menacing
I look to you and you smile, you take my hand as we walk through the storm
Winds blow and the rain is stinging my face, but the pain doesn’t last with you here.
My hand slips from yours momentarily and I fall, swept up in the giant waves
I scream inside my mind afraid that you are gone, how will you ever find me beneath the swelling sea?
I choke and flail
all around me the water batters my body, unrelenting and cold.
You’re gone, how could you let me fall? You had to have known I would, why didn’t you stop it?
A voice whispers through my fear, “I’m here”
“Where are you?” I cry.
I turn and there you are. You had never left my side.
You pull me from the surging waters and wrap your arms around me tightly.
The fear is gone; nothing can hurt me when I’m yours.
And you will always be,
my Love.
