Lord I feel so wasted living in this place
Full of sin and sickness I"m really a disgrace
I really try so very hard to follow your commands
But know matter how hard I try for good in the dump I land
I know that you are patient Lord but I'll never be
The kind of person they seem to need can't you make them see
I'm just the way you made me but that's not enough for them
They're to rigid in their thinking Lord for me they'll never bend
I tried to do what you told me when you put this ministry in my hands
I loved the disenfranchised that's where this quest began
I spoke to the people in my ministry of your word my Lord and of your wonderous love
And I saw you blessing them so I kept praying to my Lord and savior from above
But to some people on the Board that result is really not enough
See it's all about the clothes you wear the image you portray
The car you drive the job you hold is enough to win the day
It's about the friends you have, the people in the church you know
Do you fit in with the crowd is what makes them love you so
Never ever rock the boat is their battle cry
Heaven help you if your honest it's really not their style
Never ever do admit all your faults in an effort to be transparent
That just makes you a fool to them isn't that apparent
So Lord I've had enough for now I just can't take it anymore
This heart of mine is broken and your people deserve so much more
So Lord I give it back to you cause I just don't know what to do
Fighting them will just hurt the kids and the church, that I just won't do
So Lord I give you back my charge hold them tight for me
Grow them up in your love and one day let them see
Sometimes it's better to step down and let the Lord take it all from here
Rather than retaliate in pride and regret it throughout the years
