Sunday 5/22/11 Pastor Ed - The Gospel Part II
Rom 1:16-17, Matt 16:13-19, Acts 20:24, Rom 10:15,Luke 2:13-14,Rom 5:13, Gen 4:13, Gen 4:23-24
Rom 1:16 The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to all that believe. All the power we have need of is in the Word of God-the Bible. In it is the Gospel, the Power of God. Anything the enemy tries to put on us, the Gospel can get it off us. Believing is the key. Believing the Gospel is the key to getting the Power of God out of it.
There is only one true gospel and God gave it to us. We have the authority from God. He gave us life and victory thru Jesus Christ, the 2nd Adam.
Matt 16:13-19 Jesus asked who people thought He was. Jesus said God revealed to the disciples who He was. The Holy Ghost told them. The Church is built on the revelation of who Christ is and what He has done for us. When we get the revelation of Jesus Christ, we know when the devil messes with us, we will still be standing when he is done!
Acts 20:24 Gospel of the Grace of God. The gospel deals with the grace of God and not his judgment. True gospel deals only with God’s Grace.
Rom 10:15 The Gospel of Peace
Luke 2:13-15 The peace is between God and man. Its not the peace between men. God is not going to be mad at man or hold his sins against him anymore.
Rom 5:13 When there is or was no law, sins was not imputed on men. God was being merciful to sinners and didn’t keep punishing them. God wasn’t condoning sin but was being lenient to men. There were still consequences for the sins man did even though God didn’t impute his sins or hold them against him.
God was lenient and merciful to Abraham when he married his half sister, which was against the law. God was lenient and merciful to Jacob when he married two sisters, which was against the law too. God still loves us and keeps talking to us anyway. God’s love is unconditional toward us. God never leaves us. Its always man that leaves God.
Gen 4:13 Man’s fallen nature makes it almost impossible for him to full understand God’s love and mercy.
Gen 4:23-24 Man misunderstands God’s mercy for weakness. Man thinks he can get away with stuff . Eventually God will punish him. In the Old Testament, God’s mercy and lenience showed how the Gospel of Jesus would be like in the New Testament.
Rom 1:16-17 The Gospel is Good News
1) Power to save us from any curses - spiritual, physical conditions, poverty.
2) Power is available to everyone that believes.
3) God freely gives us His righteousness for us to be covered with. His righteousness justifies us so it is as if we never sinned!
4) The Gospel is received by Faith and not by works. We cannot pray enough or be good enough. Its by Faith!!
AMEN
