The Sinís of the Church
In our ultra-modern, enlightened society, we as the church of Jesus Christ have gotten way to comfortable, and have been lulled to sleep in the pew by entertainment.
Modern places of Worship bring in well known speakers, and Music groups to make the church look and feel user friendly, and attractive to the world in hopes of getting the people of the world into the church.
Our whole society in spoiled beyond belief by music, movies, and shows of all different kinds. Americans are longing to be entertained, and they want everything now! People today get very upset when they have to wait for anything, and Christians are no different. Patience is no longer a virtue in our culture, in fact people more than likely donít even no the meaning of the word anymore.
There has been a major shift in our culture over the last 100 years or so, we have gone from a society that generally understood what sin is, who Jesus is, and accepted and understood the Bibles teachings, to a society that has not a hoot in heck what sin is, why there is suffering and death, and they care even less who Jesus is. We went from a society that understood biblical concepts, to a society that has not a clue. We have moved from being a culture that had a biblical foundation, to a society that now has a much different foundation, one that is founded on humanism.
Our society is hostile to the Christian faith, wants nothing to do with it, will not go to church, or watch Christian TV, or read Christian materials. Our culture is entertainment based, and the church by in large has adopted the same ideas in order to bring get the lost into church, the church has gone out of itís way to look and sound like the world, much to itís own obliteration.
Christians tend to hang out in their own little religious circles, and talk about how bad things are getting in society. They will sign petitions in church against gay marriage, to stop partial birth abortion, but just ask them once to come out and picket at a pro-choice march, or stand for righteousness at a gay pride event, and most of them will refuse to get involved. The church is cozy in itís own protected environment, as dares not stick it neck out to far for fear of what may happen.
Jesus moved among the ungodly, and rejected people within the Jewish society, and he was persecuted by the religious leaders for doing so. He hung out with sinners, and won their hearts, he set the example for us, and it has gone straight over our heads.
The Scripture instructs us several times to preach the Gospel to the poor, and yet we tend to preach to the upper classes because they have the money that we need to build that fancy new addition to our church buildings. Never mind the fact that Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to squeeze through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to get into heaven. Those with lots of money have the tendency to be more self sufficient, and often feel that they can do things themselves without Godís help, and as a result they operate in the flesh, instead of the spirit. Those who are poor, live from paycheck to paycheck, who wonder if they will be able to pay the bills at the end of the month are more likely to look to God for help.
Jesus said that if we hold on to our own lives, we will loose them, and if we let go of our own lives, we will find them. Christians have heard these words hundreds of times, as they have heard other passages of Scripture hundreds of times, but when it comes down to where the rubber meets the road they do not apply the message to their lives. Jesus was telling us that if we will not be concerned for our own safety, if we will just be willing to lay it all on the line for the sake of the Gospel, we will find our life, and that life is him by way of the Holy Spirit living within us. On the other hand, if we hold onto material items, and the treasures of this world, and refuse to step out in faith, we will miss out on what God has for us, and we will lack the power that God wants to give us to fight evil.
The church must wake up and realize that it has sinned before God, and that God is fixing to bring judgment upon his church for allowing herself to fall asleep, and for allowing the world to come in and destroy it from the inside out. We are told in Scripture that if we will repent of our sin, and our own wickedness, God will come and heal our nation, but we must act quickly. God has told us that judgment begins in the house of God, he will punish the church for itís sins, before he punishes the evil, ungodly men. God will may use the ungodly haters of Christianity to seriously persecute the church, take for instance the radical homosexuals who have vowed a showdown with religion, this is no joke! They have already passed laws in Canada that restricts free speech when it comes to the issues of homosexuality. People there can no longer speak the truth of Godís word openly and freely unless they wish to pay some serious penalties. This is coming to America because the church will not repent of itís wicked wayís, and will not stand and fight for righteousness.
Prepare yourself for the refining fires to burn strong, the church will go through some difficult times unless it repents NOW! Repent of your own laziness, and apathy towards the things of God, pray hard that God will grant you revival in your heart, put to practice the spiritual authority God has given to you as a member of the body of Christ to stand against, and take authority over Satan.
The sins of church must be repented of, let there be weeping and gnashing of teeth at the alters of our churches now, then let the church rise up and seize the culture for Christ once again.
