I rang up the heavens,
Prayer aimed at the skies,
I'd heard all my needs
God daily supplies.
I listed my wishes,
Threw in some requests
And sprinkled some blessings
That I might suggest.
I felt no connection,
My "call" must have dropped,
Receiving no answers
Soon those requests stopped.
"I really don't need Him,
I'm fine on my own."
And then troubles came
And I felt all alone.
I found that life happens,
And truly in need,
In humility bowed
And hoped to succeed.
But prayers of the mind
Did not reach heaven's door,
'Til I opened my heart
And let Him explore.
He searched deep within me,
Convicted inside,
And when I confessed,
All my tears He then dried.
An open connection,
A heart to heart chat,
No hidden agendas...
Just this and then that.
Pouring my heart out,
Finding more than a friend,
No need to be formal,
No need to pretend.
He knew all about me,
I'd nothing to hide,
And offered His love
Even calls me His bride.
I'm loved so completely
I can't wait to "call",
A wireless connection,
No toll fees at all.
He's never too busy,
No calls ever missed,
Though sometimes His answers
Have come with a twist.
A God of all power,
He hears all my pleas,
Because I'm His child
For me intercedes.
There's truly no distance,
He's always right there,
Just held in His arms
When I whisper a prayer.
