A church hymn spoke of eternal scars. As believers we get a whole new eternal body when we go to heaven. I can guarantee that body won’t have arthritis, congenital anomalies or hidden cancers. There is simply no place for those imperfections. We have direct promises.
Christ’s sacrifice for us was dynamic, extremely painful, and once for all time. Temple implements in the Jerusalem temple had to purified by a continuing animal sacrifice. Jesus’ sacrifice of blood was at the Holy of Holies in heaven. It was a perfect sacrifice at a perfect place. There was nothing that could have made it better. That is why it was a one-time event.
Jesus showed his disciples on Earth his scars. We have a direct account. “Put your fingers here. See my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in to my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Jesus’ blood is still in effect on the alter in heaven. His activities for us as a mediator are still being pursued. He doesn’t need time off. He doesn’t die. He is God.
Human scars give way to an eternal body in heaven. There won’t be any cosmetic surgery in heaven. We will already be perfect, without imperfections of any kind. Movie stars will have to find something else to do with their time.
Jesus, I believe, will still have the scars. I can’t find a reference to prove that. We will be welcomed into heaven by a savior whose sacrifice and scars are eternal. “Only believe,” what people saw and knew to be true. Now is your chance
Will he still have the pain? We know he experienced that pain on earth. You may have to ask him about that when you get there. A perhaps more pertinent question is, does he care? Look at him--scarred hands, feet, and sliced side. I think you know the answer
You have never known such love from any other source and never will. Maybe you got a kidney or liver transplant in this life. Only one person gave a life transplant. He waits for you with outstretched scarred hands.
