A woman was brought to County General Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She went into the hospital for emergency surgery after suffering a massive stroke. The operation went very well for the middle aged woman. As the anesthetics wore off in post-op, she began to regain conscienousness. By her bedside was her nurse who re-assured her that everything was going to be alright.
Within minutes of her recovery, the woman was visite by a person from the hospital administrator’s office to talk to the woman.
“Ma’am,” asked the administrator, “the hospital want to know if you have any health insurance or sufficient funds to pay for your procedure? In other words, the hospital wants to know how you intend to pay for this procedure!
“Don’t have any health insurance and I don’t know if I have enough money. If my bill is over $200.00 then I guess I don’t have enough money. What you see before you is all that I have in this world. I got kicked out of my apartment yesterday.”
“Do you have any close relatives, who can help?”
“I don’t think so. All of my relatives are poor Italian farmers who are barely able to feed themselves. They eat mostly spaghetti and tomato sauce.”
“What about friends? Got any?”
“Yep! Jesus is my friend!” the woman responded enthusiatically.
“Jesus!! Who in the heck is He?” asked the hospital administrator.
“My friend. I see Him every day. He’s in the church about four blocks from here. So you can send the bill to Him as He owns everything!!”
