If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
Most of us, beset by any kind of inner pain, any wound, or any sin, have a fight on our hands. There are people that say that God healed them instantly, but often getting back to spiritual health takes time and commitment. Asking for healing or deliverance is agreeing with God that you will get into the fight. You will take your place and become a warrior. There is a pattern to what we need to do.
Wounds from others usually cause us in some way to retaliate. The old nature wants revenge. Saying "I was also wrong," is the start of healing. In that wounding, you will have thought and maybe done things that do not please God. There will be a need to ask for forgiveness for those things no matter what the other person or people did. That is the place of humbling. You can't do it without praying, and it means being willing to forgive the other person. It means craving the favour of God more than the revenge you would like to see. It means putting yourself at God's feet and letting go of the other person's sin and its effect on your life. It means being willing to stop rehashing the old thing, and to look at that person as if they never ever hurt you.
Most of us can't do that without some war in our souls, and most of us will have a battle. Yet that depth of forgiveness is what really heals. None of us can do it alone. To get there all we can do is seek, crave to find God in our prayers, and fall on our face before him.
Healing starts when you are willing to obey the incomprehensible command of the Lord to forgive the enemy and let all personal battles go.
And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed and freed from your [ distressing bodily] disease.
She had to struggle through the crowd, she had to fight to get to Jesus, as everyone pressed in on Him. She was in pain, and she had suffered the rejection of a woman in Jewish society who was unclean because she had a continual issue of blood. Life had not been easy. Yet she fought to keep the faith that one day that healing would come. When she saw Jesus, she knew she had to get to him, and nothing stopped her. "If I can just touch the hem of his garment." She never gave up. Jesus knew that power had gone out of Him the moment he felt the light touch of her hand on his robe. He saw that faith, he saw how over the years she never gave up believing in God. He saw a woman who would follow God even in the worst of circumstances and not turn her back. Jesus honoured her faith. It was that faith fought for and kept when others rejected her, held as the one precious thing in her life over the years, that met with Jesus. This is not some nice story told over the generations, if we look behind it, and if we imagine all the feelings we would have had, then we can see that this was the healing of a woman at war. She fought a fight to keep the faith, and at the right moment, her healing came. She finally got to touch Jesus, and more than that, she became one Jesus spoke to directly, and a woman whose faith Jesus commended. Her faith got recorded in the Bible as one of the women whose example we can follow.
12 Deuteronomy 20:4
For the Lord your God is He Who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to save you.
So often, the enemy is the effect on our spirits of the hurts we have received.
Something we have to get out of our heads is that we are alone in our own battles. If we get it firmly into our minds and spirit that the God who made Heaven and earth is fighting for us, then we will be stronger when the battles come. We do not need to cow down, we need to face the problems and difficulties we have with the sure knowledge that God himself is on our side.
God intends to save us from all the effects of the enemy. Let Him go out in front, and don't try to fight the battle yourself, alone.
