God’s Greatest Creation

Country Magazine is one of my favorite magazines. Filled with pictures of lakes and streams surrounded by green trees, or snow covered plains or trees with fall covered leaves, you can see all the seasons in these pictures. What a great perspective these pictures give of how beautiful this land that God created is!

Want to get another perspective of creation that everybody can see, no matter where you are in the world? On a clear night, take a walk outside and look up at the sky. One night, I was doing just that and I recalled the Bible verse that talks about how God knows all the stars by name. Isaiah 40:26 says “Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Wow, so many stars and yet he knows each one by its name.

But, what about God’s greatest creation? That would be you and I. We are indeed special to God. The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:27 “So God created mankind in his own image, In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Being created in the likeness of God is a pretty incredible statement.

In a very fast paced world that can be cruel and tough, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. At times, the world can make you feel unimportant. God, on the other hand, completely disagrees. He loves all of us for who we are. Do you want to know how special you are? Psalm 139:14 tells us “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well”. Psalm 139:16 continues “your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” How amazing is that? God tells us we are wonderfully made. He loves us so much, he already knew us, even before we lived our first day.

So, don’t let anybody tell you that you are sub-par or worthless. We are all so important, even the hairs on our heads are all numbered. Jesus himself tells us “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:7 ) You are special indeed!
