Hello there and welcome to yet another thought that will hopefully stir something inside of you.
Imagine a little kid coming inside all dirty and muddy after playing outside. Now that the picture of the kid is your head, imagine his or her parents giving the toddler a bath, washing all the mud off, then dressing up the little kid with clean clothes.
How would his or her parents feel like if the toddler went back outside and got just as dirty, if not dirtier? I don’t think they would be proud of the kid!
Did you know that little kid is you, and the parents are God?
How?
Well, in Romans chapter 3 verse 23 It says “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (NLT). We all know that verse; it is one of the most used verses by evangelists today I believe.
So that verse proves the fact that our clothes are dirty, from a spiritual point of view of course. Now that we have realised that we are dirty and we admit the fact our clothes are the way they are, let’s look at another verse.
Matthew 26:28 (NLT) says “For this is My (Jesus) blood, which confirms the covenant between God and His people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.”
This verse teaches us that through Jesus blood we are washed clean. Our sins are forgiven because Jesus was crucified. So this is the parents washing their kid’s clothes and giving them a bath. Praise God!
Many, many times we sin, repent and are forgiven. Many times God has mercy on us, but we just go back outside into the world and sin again and again knowing that God will continue to wash and clean us no matter what.
But let’s try something new this week, let’s start this week off with new clothes and see how long we can keep these clothes clean. Draw near to God, devote yourself to His teaching and He will help you live a cleaner life.
God help us all,
