She out of her poverty put in all she had to live on-Luke 21:4 NIV
The refrigerator was bare, the pantry low and grocery shopping wouldn't commence for another few days or so. Yet she stopped by to say hello and casually mentioned that she was starving in the midst of our conversation. What was I to do? Tell her that I was sorry and would pray for her or offer what little I had. With no thought given I offered her what was available and she graciously excepted. Not giving a second thought to giving generally reminds me of the poor widow who give the last of her money as an unselfish offering at the temple.
In Acts 20:35 the Bible tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. How true that is! Sure receiving a gift, treat and or special present has the ability to brighten up our face but doing the very same thing for someone else leads to a different sense of joy and excitement. This type of joy is what Christ wants us to exhibit every time we give, hence Philippines 2:3 (Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves).
