Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:18, 19
The gospels, if not the entire Bible, have bee called the Goodnews. It is that news that makes the foulest sinner see that flicker of hope that makes for his redemption. It is the message that causes the vilest offender respond so strongly and positively and to say ‘Just as I am without one plea but that thy blood was shed for me’. It is the clarion call that affixes to the door of our hearts the amazing, unfathomable, everlasting love of God – our Father.
But more than that it (the Bible) tells us of God’s amazing grace in taking vilest, villainous, sin-soaked individual, ensnared by satan’s chains; cleaning him up with the precious blood of His son, setting apart with the washing of the water by the word (Ephesians 5:26), writing off the debts and divorcing him from the entanglements of sin.
He took away our superfluity of naughtiness while we were swimming in the pool of debauchery and forever removed our sins from us throwing them into the sea of forgetfulness! He’s done all of that not to a group of righteous people but to sinners – unclean men and women who have fallen short of God’s glory.
Perhaps men have written you off as a condemned sinner. But God is committed to you. He’s not done with you yet. He wants you to surrender to Him your load of sin (Matthew 11:29). He desires to help you do away with your wretchedness and the helpless estate you’ve found yourself in. He is willing and able to remove the guilt of sin from your life. Your sins have been thrown into the sea of forgetfulness. He says ‘and their iniquities and sins will I remember no more’ (Hebrews 10:17).
So what is stopping you from fully appropriating His boundless love? Maybe those who spoke against you weren’t wrong. Maybe you did do all the bad stuffs they’re accusing you of. But hold your head up. Admit that you are guilty as charged. Once you turn all the sins over to Jesus, you can bask in the sunlight of God’s redemption as you watch Him throw all the filth into oblivion. Stop feeling guilty over your past sins. It’s time to come home for celebration. Let’s celebrate the victory we have in Jesus for our sins which are many have been forgiven.
