There was a shout
and the son of God
gave up his spirit
the temple curtain was split
from top to bottom
God reached down
from heaven to earth
shook the land
split the rocks
and we were
awoken.
All creation cries and groans
awaiting the return of its saviour
we were waiting
for the liberation of our souls
and for the journey to our father.
Many holy people
were held captive to their graves
waiting and yearning
to walk the streets of gold.
And when finally
our tombs were opened
there was nothing left to do
but enter the holy city
we were somewhat oblivious
to the commotion on the hill
so we just walked the streets
hoping our presence would testify
to our father.
And now
that we are in the throne room
with our father
we are aware
of the suffering
the price
Christ paid for us
the sins that were forgiven
and the tombs that were opened,
We worship
the son
and intercede for those
left behind
for we know his work
is yet not done.
