Sara wondered. What would it be like to touch?
She could see its satin surface spun by the hung sun. With deliberate delay, Sara's frightened finger reached forward, and touched ... silence ... sending a tiny trough to circle outward and toward, and begin to pool around and about.
But, there was something else. She was sure.
With the pooling slowly speeding to surround her, she felt faint sight of her mother, her father, and brother. A family she saw swallowed, by a fatal boating accident.
Then, though eyes open wide, she could see no more.
The hospital monitorís neon pulse fell flat, never to circle the surface again.
The doctor looked from the overhead monitor, to the gathered family grieving, to the silent one sealed, by a fatal boating accident.
