Writing this article got me in a whole spiral of thoughts
I initially considered the title ‘MERCY NOT EARNED’ and a whole line of other titles but I finally settled for the above
Psalm 103:11-17
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father pities his children,
So the LORD pities those who fear Him.
14 For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.
This Psalm is so true of our God
We continue to sin daily and make our creator so sad
We blaspheme and fall so easily for the tricks of the devil through the ages
We disobey commands and statutes laid for us in the Bible
We hate and are bitter in prejudiced discrimination we relate with one another in utmost harshness. Do you let your light so shine that lost and confused souls want to know and associate with YOUR God?
We do that which we actually deserve from above to others everyday and every hour
Saddest part of the story is that we hold on to so much UNFORGIVENESS even though we receive forgiveness free, from the throne of mercy above
When we remember God’s unconditional love and MERCY we will no more find it difficult to release that wicked ‘friend’, spouse, colleague, sibling not to mention outright ENEMIES who have grievously wronged us and continue to do so.
AFTER ALL 'WE' DID WORST TO THE ALMIGHTY WHEN HE WAS IN THE FLESH AND CONTINUE TO, EVEN NOW!
Proverbs 20:22
Do not say, “I will recompense evil”;
Wait for the LORD, and He will save you.
Micah 7:18-19
Who is a God like You,
Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy.
19 He will again have compassion on us,
And will subdue our iniquities.
You will cast all our sins
Into the depths of the sea.
Numbers 14:19-21
Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”
20 Then the LORD said: “I have pardoned, according to your word; 21 but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD
Luke 23:34
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.
And they divided His garments and cast lots.
Matthew 26:28
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins
