This newer Cinderella I was watching was updated to a newer worldly version expressing standards seen in America at the time it was made.
This version was trying to get across the strong woman and the weak man.
Our Country, like other countries, has values they like to try and instill in people through the media.
And like water torture, I think it is done hoping it's victims will break and just accept whatever value, or devalue, is given.
Leaven will leaven the whole loaf, if worked in, whether in Christianity or in the world.
Instead of prince charming being a protective prince, he is a immature, self centered, person who might as well have been singing, I gotta be me.
So many things the prince would like to do in a slightly fractured fairy tale. So many places he'd like to go. So much self expression to be had.
Isn't that the way it is in the nature of man.
Before we are found by our Lord, and even then, we can fight to keep an old dead nature alive. Or be drawn into the lure of what we think is fulfillment.
But I saw something by our Lord's grace in this fractured fairy tale.
This prince charming does not want to give up his self desires to serve in his father's kingdom, where being the King's son is the call born into his life.
And I understood that is how it is for me, too, belonging to our Lord.
To be a prince or princess, in the Kingdom of our Father, is our life. It is our call.
It is our Peace and way of life we are given. We are born in to that life, when born again.
It is to be our Father's child.
And upon our coming of age, becoming the age to serve, it is our call to love others as ourself and be about our Father's business. And to serve in our Father's Kingdom for the good of others.
And to live fully, it is to love our Lord with all our heart, mind and strength, and out of that, to love others as ourself.
It is to die to our self expression and to become an expression of our Lord's love for others.
To follow Him.
That is what it is to be a King's child in the true sense of the term. To serve Him by serving others in His own Love.
We do it because we love our Lord, because of His love for us given to us, and His love gives it to us that it is not a burden, it is light.
The young man in the Bible was born in his Father's house and wanted to take his inheritance and go spend his Father's fortune that would be his, on finding himself, pleasure and self expression.
He just didn't understand what his true self was. It was a heavy burden to him to serve in HIs Father's house. He wanted nothing more than to be out of there and free to live life in leisure and pleasure. He thought that was life.
It is heavy to the old nature to serve But to the new nature in our Lord, it is light.
It is our life and our chief joy in Jesus Christ, to serve in His life.
In losing all while trying to have all, and then sitting among the pig's food experiencing what it is to be found at the mercy of others, without compassion, without care for the destitute, we find something more precious in our brokeness. A recall.
How precious that call of our life is, from our Father, our Lord, to live and serve in our Father's Kingdom.
That princely/princess's call of being a child in their Father's house.
To run home to a loving Father who takes care of everyone better than we could ever find in the world where we find ourselves beaten and starved. Seeking our lives in the world, we lose our life, because that world has nothing to offer.
But in the so called losing our lives in the Kingdom, we gain our lives. There is every good thing in our Father's Kingdom and His great love for us all. His mercy and compassions are never ending.
This young man was self centered and so was I. Our flesh is centered on who we are.
But we have a new life in Jesus Christ. Living in our Father's Kingdom where there is plenty to eat.
And after being beaten down spending all we have on what is worthless, harmed and starving, we come to our senses and realize there is a place we can go to eat.
To our Father.
And we can go home, though now in a different attitude of heart.
And our Good Heavenly Father meets us and rejoices in our coming.
Not to make us wallow in our guilt which is true, but to clothe us anew. To accept us as His son, who was lost but now is found. Was dead but has come to life again, with great rejoicing.
And there is great rejoicing in the Kingdom upon the repentance of one sinner.
He is home again in His Father's house.
And the burden is not heavy and the yoke is light.
