On my 5th wedding anniversary, my wife gave me a baby bib. What's the idea? That thought instantly jumped to my mind. For seconds, I stared blankly at the bib. Then came my tears as I realized that she was pregnant with our very first baby after three years of our earnest prayers. What an amazing expression of her thought!
Days went by. She craved for hotdogs and instant noodles even though she did not like these kinds of food. She consumed them because the baby inside her wanted to have them. What a change, or a sacrifice, she had to make in order to satisfy the life within her.
Weeks later, her belly began to show something, something that moved inside of her own body. A living human being that could hear our voices; that could interact with us!
As my wife walked, she wobbled, not because she was clumsy, but because she was bearing a precious life within her. I saw the heaviness of her; not a burden, but a tremendous joy that weighted a thousand pounds!
Months after, she began her labor at a hospital, and I stayed with her by the bedside. As she cried out, I felt her overwhelming pain within my heart. A second seemed like a year at that moment. After minutes and minutes crept by, we finally welcomed our very first baby boy. The pain my wife had endured moments earlier was forgotten; the joy she had was overflowing as she saw her precious child for the very first time.
From pregnancy to labor, a woman has to bear emotions of ups and downs, change of appetite, extra weights, and pain. She is very willing to take all this upon herself. Why? Because the baby within her is part of her; the baby is indeed the Lord's blessing; the baby is a creation, a new life the Lord entrusts her to take care of.
I pray that the Lord's blessings come upon all pregnant ladies. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
