Great is the mystery of the faith!(1Tim 3:9)
James challenges the advocates of substanceless faith to show him their faith without their works. He offers to give his works as evidence of his faith. To James, it is not enough to believe giving to the poor is a Christian virtue. It must become an experiential reality.
Our actions and not words are faithful witness of the reality of our faith or how do we hope to convict our sinner friends of the possibility of the Christian life?
