"All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned aside to his own way, but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him." (Isaiah 53:6) This poem is in response to this verse.
How O Lord, have I been led astray?
How I have turned to my own selfish way.
I've gone wrong in my thoughts, words and deeds.
I have not, O God, kept thy word, to heed.
I have not shown my neighbors, your love.
Or helped them to see your blessings above.
I've turned my face, from people in sin.
Instead of giving them a nice, big grin.
I've used harsh words to those who are weak.
I have not been, Lord, kind-hearted and meek.
I've gone right past the people without,
'cause I've been so busy out and about.
I have not helped others' burdens bear.
Sometimes I wonder how much I care.
There are times when I just think of me.
Help me, O Lord, to become more like Thee.
Help me O Lord, to not go astray.
Help me to turn to Thy own loving way.
