49 “The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young. 51 They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or olive oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined. 52 They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
I have often heard it said that what is written in the Old Testament does not apply to us today because we are under the new covenant, not the old. In some respects I agree, but in the vast majority of my “Christian” experience (my relationship with God, through faith in Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit) I have found that the Old Testament provides us with a rich and unequalled source of spiritual insight from which we gain spiritual understanding and spiritual wisdom.
Over the last twenty years or so I have become totally convinced that there are parallels between Deuteronomy 28 and John 15:1-17. In the former, God sets out the terms and conditions for His people to remain in Canaan. Bear in mind that God told them He was taking them in because He wanted to punish evil, not because they were good people. In the latter, Jesus sets out the terms and conditions for life in Him; bear in mind that He tells all His disciples clearly that He has chosen us, not the other way round, and not because we are good but because He wanted to save us from evil.
I believe that the Old Testament is powerful because what happened to Israel in the natural realm relates to us in the spiritual realm. For example, the army of locusts that invaded and overrun Israel in the Book of Joel represent spiritual forces invading and overrunning the spiritual lives of God’s people today. And in the Western world this can be seen very clearly with the spiritual invasion of Islam.
Do not be under any illusions here. The spirit behind Islam is one of the most hateful, spiteful and murderous spirits to gain and maintain control over whole populations. It is a formidable enemy and shows all the signs of what I describe as a “classic religious spirit”.
Religious spirits control men forcefully and working with men’s propensity for jealousy and selfish ambition, incite men to religious lies, hatred, cunning craftiness, deception, manipulation, murder and full scale religious war.
From my experience in the UK and now Canada, “Christianity” that is “the church system” is being given over to the spirit of Islam, and Islam is easily gaining the upper hand with religious lies, cunning craftiness, deception and manipulation.
In the West, we have adopted a code of Human Rights. Europe holds this belief in such high esteem there is a “European Court of Human Rights” where children have prosecuted their parents because they were disciplined against their wishes and adults want the right to commit suicide if they no longer wish to live. It is to these same principles that the spirit of Islam turns to win its way for its own ends. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
So now in the UK there are government funded Islamic Schools that teach the “National Curriculum” in the week and the Saudi Arabian belief system at the weekends, that is, the Western World is corrupt and must become subject to Islam through political means, primarily Islamic government enforced by Sharia Law.
Most Canadians I have spoken to about this believe it will not happen here, it cannot happen, because Canada is “different”. They believe that Canada is being built on a superior form of multiculturalism and is therefore immune to the wiles and guiles of Islam. Well, all I can say is that time will tell.
Now to end this very brief (and somewhat simplistic) spiritual overview of what I think is happening with Islam in the West, here are some sobering thoughts.
Firstly, the Islamic invasion of the West today is like the Assyrian invasion of Israel in the Old Testament but worse is yet to come. After Assyria along came Babylon, Assyria was just a warning. Likewise, Islam is just a warning for us, after Islam will be the One World Religion and the One World Government and that will be a spiritual invasion that no one would have predicted, apart from the LORD of course. Everything is written down for our admonition.
My personal conviction is that the One World Religion will be welcomed with open arms because it will appear to “save” us from Islam, but more on that another time.
Secondly, although Muslims do not have access to God they have access to their god, a very powerful demonic force; our God asks us to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him, their god demands things like adherence to a long list of rules and regulations, memorising text and devotion to prayer (e.g. five times/day).
Looking at the way most “Christians” and most “Muslims” devote themselves to their “faith”, who do you think is wielding the most spiritual power in the heavenly realm? And if that is not enough to gain political power in a nation then the Muslims have a backup plan; reproduce at a faster rate than any other religion by having more children than anyone else.
Thirdly, just before Lady Diana was killed in a car accident, it was widely rumoured that she was about to marry Dodi Fayed. For that to happen, Diana would probably have had to convert to Islam. If that had been the case, perhaps half the women in Britain would have converted to Islam overnight and the consequence of that would have been Britain becoming, in effect, a Muslim nation.
In certain respects, it might help us if Britain did become a Muslim nation. It would help the “Christians” there realise their true spiritual condition and act as a warning to “Christians” in the rest of the Western World.
