Ever wondered if you can change the mood of your life?
I’m here to tell you that you can indeed, and with a very simple method.
Many times in life we go through depression, through hard times, low times and doubting, but what would you say if I told you that changing the mood in your life is as easy as changing your thoughts?
Psalm 34, verse 5 says in the NASB translation; “They looked to Him (God) and where radiant…” if we focus on the depression and all the problems we face then it is of no doubt that we are never happy. If you focus always on your food, how will you be able to enjoy the Pepsi? This verse tells us that whoever looks upon God will be filled with happiness. You may ask how you can look at God. But it’s really simple; by looking at His fruits (blessings) we can see Him, we can see Him at work. So focus on the blessings, fill your thoughts with all the blessings that God has given to you and then there will be no room for the stress and negative thoughts! Fill your heart with God and leave no room for the devil.
The book of Psalms is well known for these mood swings in life. Just have a look at Asaph, when he wrote Psalm 77. He asked questions that maybe you have asked as well; verse 7 says “Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favourable again? Or how about verse 9; “has God forgotten to be gracious, or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? (NASB). Have you asked yourself those questions? If your answer is yes, then you are reading the right article, God is speaking to YOU, how’s that for a blessing?
The same book of Psalms provides the medication to this problem, the way out, the door of escape from a negative life.
If we read a couple verses later on we learn that Asaph-despite the problems he was going through-decided it was a good thing to “remember the deeds of the Lord, to remember the wonders of old and to meditate on all God’s work and muse (reflect or ponder on in silence) (verses 11 and 12). And if we continue to read the rest of this chapter we realise that Asaph went from complaints and depression to happiness.
So how do you change your bad mood into a good mood?
Simply by remembering God’s blessings in your life, and by filling your thoughts with God, you will leave no room or power for that matter for the devil.
