We suddenly saw the chickens scurrying to safety with their chicks tagging along behind them. They made noises as they made their way into their various hiding places which included underneath and high up the orange trees in the compound while some made their way into the bird cages.
Wondering why the birds behaved hysterically, we looked up and saw the ‘harasser’ – a big hawk-as it swooped down to pick up any chick it found. We then began to shoo it away and as the hawk flew away, the chickens were all silent and then, I fully understood the purpose of the safe towns that were chosen in Moses' days.
The Israelites can run into safety – if they had accidentally killed a person – to be safe from any physical harm or harassment before they are found guilty or not.
Then I understood better that this was what God did for me when He provided His Son Jesus for me to run to as soon as I sin and realise it-to be safe from not just physical harassment but also spiritual one and in addition, never to be brought before anyone for trial.
